2 in 1
by Claudia Sonea

India hits again. The latest invention is a mobile phone with two SIM cards or with a SIM card and a CDMA SIM card. These are great news for people that usually have two phones for a cheaper way to talk with the others. It is useful not only to business man, but also to common people. China and Korea are the only two other countries that use a dual SIM phone. It is a spectacular two in one product and it has a system like waiting call option that you usually have on your phone. Whenever someone is calling you on one SIM while you are speaking on the other it will appear to you in order to decide what to do: either you answer; either you will see it later like a missed call. The company that launches the 2-in-1 product is Spice Ltd and will operate in two circles, Punjab and Kamataka. The target consumers are primarily the companies that use CDMA for better tariffs for their employees and also the business men that have to call in so many places. Also it’s a better deal for the roaming users that travel a lot, across the World. This helps you to keep the desired SIM of the phone company that offers you more benefits than any other and also it is easier and more convenient to carry only one mobile phone, instead of two. 2-in-1 products will take over all the markets very soon, because of the increasing need of practicability. I too want to acquire such a phone and I bet you want that too, but until further notice of launching it in Europe, the only thing we can do is surf. Enjoy!

Saturday Night Madness
by Claudia Sonea

Not going to the cinema for a movie is becoming a trend. Surf lovers like me appreciate more and more a good movie while surfing the net, feeling the board under their fingers and would a click, watching the movie they want and if they don't like it, they can always click somewhere else. Usually the man in the story goes to the theaters only to please his wife from time to time. But his attitude proves he is no ordinary movie-goer. It's a nasty business after all. Talkers, people who use excessively their cellphones and bored children make you lose your temper and the pleasure of actually enjoying the movie. Then it comes to the financial part, you spend much more money than you would normally spend by sitting back and relax on your own coach. Alternatives exist if you still want to go out to see a movie, but without spending too much. You could always go in theaters, in previews, but it is not the same thing, I would say. However, there is another side of the story. People like theaters, they like going and see the movies on gigantic screens and feel they are part of it. I pity those people because there will always be a killjoy there, spoiling the pleasure of the simple person that is interested indeed. I know big, flat screens are great, but try the silence of your room and tell me, isn't that a better way to watch a movie?

iPhones Market
by Claudia Sonea

If you ever thought to make some profit by buying and reselling iPhones, you should watch out for the market demands. Before you throw yourself in the water full of sharks you should test the it, see if they bite. Now, now, don't laugh it's a subject that must be regarded very seriously. First of all on eBay you will lose like 50 dollars in taxes, then you also have to pay shipping and insurance fees. Not to mention all the trouble and the worries created by the bidding. Misconceptions like getting easy money and premiums on eBay and Craiglist can get you in a lot of troubles and also you might lose more than you invest. Study the market first, see how is the demand by comparison to the supply, calculate the money invested, the taxes, shipping, insurance and then the profit. If it's bigger, then go for it, but if it's not don't bother. And if you want to commercialise iPhones think twice, because the market is really tricky. Surf lovers enjoy your time online and if you think can handle the market, your just one click away of getting rich. Kaching!

SigEx Telecom : Nokia starts global positioning service
by Delia Cruceru

On Thursday Nokia Inc. launched a new GPS service for Nokia 6110 Navigator and Nokia 65 multimedia computer. The new service helps users to find their current location or a desired location. The Assisted GPS (A-GPS) service which Nokia released will reduce the startup time known as time to first fix (TTFF), meaning users will found out their current location in one minute from three minutes currently. Ralph Eric Kunz, vice-president, multimedia experiences, Nokia says:” By decreasing the time wasted while you wait for a first fix, we are increasing the enjoyment that Nokia Maps provides. Consumers now have the comfort of quick fix times which create a better navigation experience when using Nokia Maps." Users that already hold a Nokia 65 can download this service through Nokia Software Updater, and they can use it for free. Nokia plans to incorporate this service to all of its future handsets and allows service providers to provide their own regional A-GPS services making it more accurate and it will be available in 40 different languages. The Finnish company released its N65 cellular at a price starting from 700 Euro and plans to extend to larger markets and hopes that the new service will boost the price of its phones. It is expected that the company will ship 12 million units until 2009 in Europe and U.S.

Who's to blame?
by Claudia Sonea

The first widespread deployment of iPhones in a wireless network wrecked Wi-Fi havoc on campus of Duke University. Kevin Miller, Duke's assistant director of communications infrastructure declared that the iPhones on campus knocked out access points for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. It's not yet a severe problem because there are only 150 iPhones on campus due to the fact that school starts full sessions later in August. Andrew Storms, nCircle director of security operations, said that no technical expert with first-hand knowledge has analysed the problem yet, so there is no way to determine who's to blame- although both Duke staff and Apple point the finger at each others. Moreover there is something else to concerned about, beyond the usual game of "the escape goat". Experts(both nCircle and Gartner) say that iPhones might pose serious security risks to the enterprise. According to them you might turn out to be a criminal, only by using your BlackBerry. This may seem hilarious but it is not, you may transform your iPhone into a bomb. Watch out good fellows this network isn't to be made fun of, it's not trustworthy and you should approach it in consequence, till further notice.

SigEx Telecom : Search Service for Mobile Content developed by Google
by Ioana Madalina Tantareanu

People familiar with the matter say that as the Internet Google Inc. company pushes more deeply into wireless, it is trying t o develop a new search service for cellphones that will help consumers find and buy ringtones, games and other mobile content. The company wants to do much more than just looking up Web pages, effectively becoming a gateway for finding and paying for mobile media content, although Google already offers cellphone users a version to search the web of it`s popular searching engine. According to the new system, users would search for a ringtone and get back a list of providers as well as links helping them to download the material. Google would place companies for high placement in the search results, much the way it offers "sponsored links" on computer Web searches, the people familiar with the plans say.The project has been marred by a series of technical delays, even if the company has been working for months with content providers, large or small entertainment companies. This fact illustrates that there`s a learning curve as Internet giants adjust to the peculiarities of the mobile world.A social-network was considered included by the company, that would let users of the company's Gmail email service exchange content, a person familiar with the initiative says.It is also said that the service would work much more like the Google Product Search service, formerly known as Froogle. The sale of mobile content like ringtones and games could become a threat to large cellphone operators like Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc., is planned to broker by Google, especially if the company enables customer payment through eBay Inc.'s PayPal or its own online Checkout service. There have been built storefronts to sell such material by the operators and they would prefer to hold on to consumer`s attention and spending. Google and Yahoo companies have been competing with start-ups like Medio Systems Inc. and JumpTap Inc., when it came to searches on cellphones. All providers are tempted by the potential ad revenue that could be generated by sponsored links alongside search results.Revenue from search ads is still small, but Google and others see it growing down the road.
